KISS, a Monday Concert? that’s weird…
Kiss is all about entertainment!! You are swept up in rock and roll all night, and party every day for two hours while at the concert. – Ace Frehley
I have an expectation problem. a few years ago, my friend Eric said, “Avatar is the best move I had ever seen.” Me.. I thought of Starwars, ET, Shawshank redemption, Jaws, the Shining. I was expecting, the best movie ever! I was expecting mind blowing, jaw dropping amaze balls. (yeah, my expectations were pretty high) I wasn’t disappointed, I was like, it wasn’t horrible. Turns out it made something like a billion or something world wide. Clearly my expectations had clouded my judgement. I know unfair, to hold any movie to that much expectations. So, my little problem is more like a sickness really. Crazy, now jump to the present.
I heard the hype saying the legendary rockers KISS starting their “End of the Road” Tour to the Spokane Arena. My wife and I get some tickets, and I immediately went to Alexia and had them play the best of KISS. I heard them back in the day and liked them. Now older, I didn’t know exactly what to expect. Fingers crossed, we went. My expectations were growing, I had visions of wow. I tried to curb them, unsuccessfully.
Opening act was a painter? Yikes! My expectations of all the hype was confirmed, and the concert wasn’t even getting started. Yeah, my expectations hit the bottom of the barrel, right there.
Happy to Say, I was wrong.

The painter had a 4×6 ft black canvas, held two three inch paint brushes. Bam! David Garibaldi pulled off the coolest speed painting I had ever witnessed. He blasted out, Freddie Mercury. His second portrait looked strange and weird. proportions were off and I began to cringe. Then it happened, drumroll, David Garibaldi flipped the painting over. HOLY SMOKES!!! He had painted Jimi Hendrix upside down! Incredible! The last one was the group Kiss, all the while working the crowd and showing off his Incredible, and interesting talent! If you get a chance check out his FB page!
The arena goes black, and an eerie guitar rift makes it way through the cheering crowd. Just like a nitros fueled high performance dragster off the starting line, a roar of music erupts. Half way through the first song, everyone was on their feet and remained dancing and cheering for the next two and a half hours.
Spotlight hit the band members! The old make up, platform boots, with bat wing cape, tons of leather took the stage. In the back of he Stage, a rocking drum set, rises on a platform.

Paul Stanley gave introductions, calling out vocalist Gene Simmons, guitarist Tommy Thayer, and Drummer Eric Singer. Since it was “The End Tour” tour, the fans roared with renewed vigor recalling KISS’s Tour in May 26, 1974.
Among the cheering crowd, huge columns of flame shoot up followed by dazzling laser show that propels the arena into a foot stomping concert. Heavy metal rock takes front stage song after song after song; The entire audience screaming for more. KISS delivers a mix of guitar rifts, banging drum solos with the heart pounding explosives and a high wire activities.

The concert was loud and got louder, brighter, and yes AMAZE BALLS! Ace Frehley had been right!! KISS is more than music; they are pure entertainment. The showmanship, theatrical magic, and heart pounding music whirls into a high octane heavy metal rock performance of a lifetime.

If you see one concert this year, make it count with “The End of the Road” Kiss tour! If I could swing it, I love to go to that Kiss concert again and again! Well fellow Kiss fans, and RPG peeps! I will catch you later!

What was the first concert that you went to? Have you seen them since? Are they still around? Who went with you? What did you think of it? Where was the venue?
Slang Definition -Amaze balls, that means really cool. I couldn’t use a word large enough to capture all of the amazing things that were happening at once. 🙂
