What are the best dice! Where can I purchase them?
Do you love dice, or love someone who loves dice? I am here to help you find some super cool dice for yourself or for your loved one. There are a few types of polyhedrals for good old DnD or Pathfinder capacity dice!! The dice are common found in sets of 7 and occasionally sets of 10 by adding an additional 3D6. Most of these dice can be found in variations on Amazon or your local book store. The blue fonts are hyperlinks to the dice set where I found them.
The most common dice sets are seven dice, consisting of D20, D12, D10 D10 , D8, D6 and a D4. Occasionally they will add in three extra d6s bringing the total to 10 dice.
The Basic uses for RPG gaming. If you are new to gaming, a d20 is used for combat encournters, rolling for skills like preceptions, or tracking. An easy or common task, a 10 or better to succeed. The other dice are used for calculating damage. A knife might do d4 damage, a sword d8 or d10. If you fall 30 feet off a cliff, you will take 3d6 damage where as 2 D10 can be used as precentages.
History: Dice can be made of all different types of material. In the 80’s, dice were Las Vegas style D6 and really crude polyhedral dice that if heated or smashed in a backpack would warp or be out of round. My very first d20 was one of these soft plastic egg shaped die, with the numbers 1 through 0 on so I had to paint it to distinguish between low numbers and high. Crunched for time, I had painted finger nail polish on one side to represent 1-10, and a water color base paint on the other for 11-20. HA! The Result was a surprise to me the paints were different densities, so it made my die 20 would roll 11-20 more often. I was rocking and rolling, couldn’t miss, rolling for magic was incredible. Then it dawned on me.. oh shit. That’s right, I made a loaded D20. oops. sorry guys. Thank goodness those days are behind leaving those warped out of round dice in the past!

I scavanged through Amazon looking for the best deal I could find. To get the best dice sets for a fair price, depends on what kind of dice you like. Metal, clear, pearl, solid, and a mix of others thrown in.
Most dice tend to be made of a polystyrene or resin base, then other are made of metal such as zinc and tin with pained sections that can get quite fancy. Also available are individual dice sets, bulk dice sets, metal sets, and even crystal dice made of real crystal. I narrowed it down to the top three. By chance, these can all be purchased at Amazon.com with a link in blue.
Tale of the Take
Individual dice sets made of plastic or resin are usually under 6.00 for cool dice. a fair price with a large selection of super cool colors and types. Clear, smoked, pearl, solid. They are durable, and doesn’t break your pocket book.
Bulk dice are available about 18 different colors and less expensive than individual dice sets. Usually bulk dice is 7 sets for about 1.75 a dice set. There are great for a DM, that is running a one shot game with a variety of players. They are reasonable priced, the drawback is a color variations that go from cool, to not so much. FYI- I always end up with one or two sets of dice that are just a horrible color. HA!
Metal dice sets usually under 30.00 dollars, but tread carefully! To make their dice sets more attractive, manufacturers will add extra cool items that will add to the price. If you are new to metal dice, becareful when rolling. Metal dice are heavy, and edged, and tend to scratch or dent some table top surfaces. A dice tower is always an option. Even peeps like Paladin roll playing, they have a cool tin. Nice dice for 50.00 for a set of 7.

All of the dice featured are really cool, and would go well on any dice hoarder. To be fair, with all of the options and competition, the buyer has many choices. I choose the full 10 piece metal dice set, and the ancient design. Vebe grey metal dice, give the 7 regular dice and the 3 extra D6 for the great find and a great price! The bulk dice, I really like the Ivyfielddice set. I like the black and red set! I have always been partial to Red and Black! The other dice in the sets are really cool, and are steps ahead from the old solid colored dice. !! Bam!

Bulk dice sets
I like finding deals on bulk dice; A good chance that you will receive a ton of dice for a fraction of the cost. Usually five to seven sets of pearl or solid dice sets. There are a lot of beautiful sets of dice available. The drawback is that you don’t get to choose your colors. So, you will receive a few really cool sets, a few kinda ok sets, and usually one that is horrible. Glad to say, In the last few months, bulk dice sets have made a few changes, and jazzed up their colors, trying to avoid the less desirable colors.
